Rocky was a darling puppy  .  .  .
.  .  .   Who finished fast, after making a splash at the 2004 PDCA Nationals in Olympia, WA.
A beautiful young champion,    .    .    .
The next year, he wondered why his half-siblings, from mom's
2005 litter were getting all the attention .  .  .
.  .  .  After
all, he was
the
"STAR"
and he was
not happy
when he
wasn't
going to all
the shows!
After sitting around the house and waiting to mature, he showed us  .  .  .
We understood his need to compete in the ring, so we' let him
have some fun, once in a while, including a few nice wins  .  .  .

Rocky was doing so well, I placed this ad in Pug Talk, Dog News & The Canine Chronicle.
The day after I got my Pug Talk in the mail and saw Rocky's ad, Scott called to tell me Rocky was dead.
Graphic by Diana Hedstrom
I got the call that morning as I was sitting outside on my patio, drinking a cup of coffee, thinking
about Rocky, and how much I was going enjoy having him home after the end of the year when he
retired. I was imagining him playing under the tree off to the right in the Pug yard with his buddies,
Tyler and Jack, then the phone rang.
All that's left of my heart, after losing Rocky, remains because of the love he had for life, and my
knowledge that he'd go on without me. The other Pugs need me, and life goes on, but a very big piece
of my heart died that day.
This is one of my favorite
picture of Rocky taken by his
co-breeder, Diana Hedstrom,
when he was just a baby.
Rocky's time here was not finished. There was so much yet for him to do. He always
considered each day an adventure, and so much of his life will tragically not be lived.

PLEASE, keep your Pugs safe from harms way, and know that accidents can never be
completely avoided. LOVE your Pugs while you have them here with you. Their time
with us is a gift, never to be assumed or taken for granted. Unconditional love is far
too precious, and so seldom found, except in a four-legged friend.              ~Sandra

I placed this ad in the next issue of Pug Talk
I hope I was able to personally thank everyone for the love and support through such difficult time, but please know
how much your email, phone calls, cards and flowers help. To those strangers that have shared their comfort, to those
friends that have offered their love, every heartfelt gesture from your hearts helps mend one small piece of mine.

We can all share the common bond, that life spares no one from grief and pain. It takes a tragedy sometimes to
remind us and open our hearts to each other.    ~Sandra
Rocky Arrives at the Rainbow Bridge

You must be kidding.  It can’t be him.  It’s way too soon.  Hon, what are you doing here?

I know. I know. I'm sorry about this. It was sudden and unexpected. I'm sorry
because I loved showing, and because I did, I was good at it. I'm so very sorry to
disappoint the people who loved me and cared for me. I'm sorry my time was
interrupted. It was short, but it was wonderful.

Well, we’re sorry too boy.  Now, just relax and enjoy yourself.. It’s all playtime and
beautiful memories from now on.  You’re among many, many good friends who love you.
Now go.  Run like the wind, Rocky.

Some of Rocky's friends offered words of condolences and hope   .    .    .    They also contributed to
the
Pug Health Fund, in his name, making his memorial fund a Silver Donor in 2008. Thank you so
much for giving in his name, to benefit all Pugs!
God's heart for you is full of hope, love, and peace. . . and so are my prayers.

God, who made it possible to be together here, makes it possible to be together there.

"The life of every living thing is in His hand, just as the breath of all mankind." Job 12:10

With much love,

Linda
This is my favorite picture of Rocky, and the one that brings back my favorite memory, of
him laying upside down in his donut bed at my feet, while I was on the computer the last time
he was home with me. The picture of that, I carry in my head.

But you, my sweet, "Big-Baby-Boo-Boo-Boy," my "Rock-Man," I carry in my heart.

Rocky, you are still here!
Rocky had a short life, but it was sweet. He always knew he was loved!
A life of belly rubs and pampering, even in the Group Ring!
Rocky was invited to  Westminster
