WHEN WE PLACE A PUG
We take our responsibility as breeders seriously whenever we decide to sell a Pug. is
because we want to breed a better litter of show puppies, and most are already spoken is

for.
Occasionally we have a Pug to place in a loving home. When we determine we have a Pug to
be placed, the Pug is always spayed or neutered first. We do not sell young baby Pugs,
most are four to five months, or even older, before we place them. This allows them time
to grow and play with their siblings, gives us plenty of time to evaluate their show
potential, gives us enough time to get them vaccinated, have sterilization surgery, have
their micro chip implanted, and start their training.
Unless we know the person and how their Pugs are kept, we do not sell to another
breeder. As we know from first hand experience, it is possible to have too many Pugs, and
when that is the case, each Pug doesn't receive their fair share of individual attention. We
never place a Pug in a situation that is not as good for the Pug as having them here with us.
We understand breeders usually have more Pugs than most pet owners. However, Pugs
are companion dogs, and if ignored, crated, and/or kenneled for long periods of time, they
are not happy.
The terms and conditions under which we sell our Pugs have evolved over the years, based
upon some unpleasant and downright awful experiences. All terms and conditions are
meant to prevent such negative experiences from being repeated, both for the Pugs and
for us. Keep in mind, we too, occasionally purchase a Pug from someone else, so we also
try to be considerate of our Buyers.
Our #1 Concern
Is always the health and welfare of the Pug!!!
Our #2 Concern
Is how open a potential buyer is to consulting with us if anything comes up during the life
of their Pug; whether a health issue; a behavior issue; or, just general care question.
Serious Breeders are always willing to be there to support their buyers and their Pugs.
We're also willing to learn, and seek the best possible advice. We will seek the opinions of
other, more experienced breeders, in a crisis. And, we expect a commitment from our
buyers that they will consult with us, and our vets, if anything happens with their Pug.
We do this for two reasons, because we and our vets are more knowledgeable than most
general practice vets on the health issues of the breed, and because as breeders, we
must know about any and all health issues in our dogs, so we can take appropriate
measures with our future breeding plans.
We also expect to have a signed sales agreement, which clearly states all expectations
for both the buyers and ourselves to ensure we each understand all expectations.
OUR PROCESS
Step 1 - The Application
The first step in the process of getting a Pug from us is our Application. To obtain an
application, please click on the application link and after completing it, send it to us using
the email addresses provided. Be sure to provide as much detail as possible as to what
you want, so we can help you just the right Pug for you, your family, and your lifestyle.
Proper placement is KEY in a happy outcome for all.
Please understand it may take several months or longer to get a Pug from us, and we
reserve the right to sell only to those people we feel will provide a loving home for our
Pugs.
Completing the application is not a guarantee we will sell you a Pug.
We do not take deposits on Pugs from anyone, instead, we will do our best to match you up
with the right Pug for you and your situation on a "first come, first serve" basis and want
to place the right Pug for each home.
Our Prices - How Much?
Our prices are based upon the Pug in question, pet or show, and other factors, so I will not
respond to anyone who just sends a note asking, "How much are your pups?"
Our price for a pet quality Pug is comparable to the price pet Pugs go for in our local
newspapers. However, our pups come with a health guarantee, have been wormed,
vaccinated, microchipped, have started their potty training, and are spayed, or neutered.
And, we are here to help and support you with the Pug long after your check clears.
"We're not interested in showing, we just want a pet." Some people want to know what Pet
Quality means, what's the difference between Pet and Show? I can tell you that to the
average buyer, the difference is not noticeable most of the time. Things that you can see
about a puppy are just the beginning of how we evaluate pups for the show ring.
When we retire our show dogs from the ring and our breeding programs, we also place
them after they have been spayed or neutered. These Pugs are still young enough to enjoy
their retirement with a loving family. Our retired Pugs have many wonderful attributes, as
well as being well socialized. Contact us if you'd like more information, or wish to be
considered for a beautiful mature Pug. We place our retired Champions in homes we feel
will give them all the love and attention they deserve.
Showing Dogs
It's a very expensive undertaking, that involves more than most people can see about a
puppy. If you think you'd like to learn more, we can help you, or find someone in your area
willing to mentor you. Our show puppy prices are double the price of our pet pups, and
that's just the beginning. A serious show breeder has to invest in equipment and supplies
specific to the showing of their dogs.
For the younger Pug lover
If you're serious, we'd be delighted to help you get started, whether you end up buying a
show puppy from us, or another show breeder. Junior Handling is available through 4H as
well as local All Breed Dog Clubs.
Referrals to other Breeders
Be assured, that if you complete our application, with your permission, I'm happy to
forward it on to someone else in your area that may have puppies. Such a referral would
only be to someone that I feel would be abiding the Code of Conduct and Breeder
Guidelines of the Pug Dog Club of America.
Once we receive your application, we will contact you and let you know if we have a Pug for
you, or when we might. At that time we would also ask if you wanted us to send your
application to any other breeders.
Step 2 - The Contract
If we think we may have a Pug for you, the next step will be for us to send you the sales
agreement for your potential Pug.
For pet quality Pugs, the contract will be a more complete version of the SAMPLE Pet
Quality Sales Contract, or, for a show potential pup, we include a section for additional
terms and conditions. We also have older Pugs we place from time to time, and they have
their own specific re-homing agreement. All our contracts are based upon the SAMPLE
Pet Quality Sales Contract, so be sure to read it and ask questions before deciding
you'd like a Pug from us. All terms and conditions will be discussed and agreed to BEFORE
you are expected to sign a contract.
After you review the SAMPLE Pet Quality Sales Contract and we agree on all the terms
of YOUR Pug's specific contract, we will make arrangements for you to meet your Pug.
Since we do not ship, we will make every effort to arrange transportation at minimal
expense to you, or you can come and pick up the Pug in person. Final payment would be
expected prior to the transfer of the Pug.
Special considerations are made for certain situations, but we reserve the right to
determine if such arrangements are an option.
Show Prospects & Started Show Dogs
For show potential puppies, the contract will be similar to the SAMPLE Pet Quality
Sales Contract, however, there may be additional terms and conditions regarding the
showing and breeding of the dog. We make no guarantee any puppy will earn its AKC
Championship.
We do not pay any show, transportation, handling, or veterinary expenses for dogs that
are not under our direct control. Buyers assume the responsibility for their pet's care and
the expenses when they purchase any dog. Showing a dog means having additional
expenses.
Showing is a hobby, not for profit, so know that such an undertaking will not be profitable,
and will mean you will not recover your costs. We do not control the factors associated
with showing the dog, and we are not liable for any financial loss associated with the owning
or showing of a Pug purchased. We will take the Pug back at any time, for any reason. The
Pug's contract, provides the terms for the refund given if a Pug is returned.
WHY A CONTRACT?
Signed written contracts do not keep unethical people honest. They do provide a level of
protection from unethical parties, but most importantly, they are a written record of the
AGREEMENT between the parties.
Sometimes we think we know what we heard, based upon what our intentions were, so the
parties may remember a conversation differently. When that happens, unless there is a
contract in place, the parties can have serious disagreements. The contract gives you the
blueprint for your association. We might want, or intend something one way, and it seems
reasonable to us, but that does not mean the other party remembers, clearly understood
our intent, or agrees with us.
A mutually agreed upon and signed contract is the basis for a solid working arrangement.
Both parties know what to expect, there are no differences of opinion, or lapses in
memory to cloud anya issue, weeks, or even months later.
PLEASE, DO NOT PURCHASE A PUG FROM ANYONE WITHOUT READING &
SIGNING A CONTRACT!
PUG INFORMATION
If you are just considering a Pug and want more information on the breed, and/or what to
look for in your search, be sure to look at the articles on Marcy Heathman's web site,
www.pugs.com. Marcy has one of the best sites for learning all about Pugs, including an
article in her Content Articles section. One of these is titled, "How to Find a Breeder."
DON'T FORGET PUG RESCUE!
Seattle Pug Rescue is a non-profit organization that was sponsored by the Puget Sound
Pug Dog Club, but it is a separate, non-profit. Seattle Pug Rescue helped approximately
105 Pugs in 2007! Please visit their web site (link above). You might decide to adopt a Pug
in need of a home, make a donation, or volunteer. We encourage you to consider helping a
Pug in need!
Pugs have become so popular that many people are breeding and without knowledge and
experience, or without the guidance of a committed Pug breeder, and many are not doing
proper placements of their pups. When all these puppies develop health care issue,
behavior issues, or when their impulse buyers lose interest, these Pugs, through no fault of
their own, end up in trouble.
Those of us the LOVE this breed and have dedicated our lives to them are trying to save
as many as possible, but we need your help! The most important thing you can do to help
Pugs, is be a responsible buyer.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, NEVER buy a puppy from a Pet Shop!!! No matter what
they tell you, no responsible caring breeder would EVER place a puppy in a pet store.
These puppies always come from puppy mills. No matter that you may save one, if you
purchase one, you're condemning it's parents and others to their lives of suffering.
If you read Petunia's Journey on the Seattle Pug Rescue web site, you can see how she
and others we're saving are abused in order to produce puppies for uninformed buyers.
Just say, "NO!" Don't support this industry of shame!!!
